How lessons work

A clear plan for better grades

01

Identify learning gaps.

We assess your child’s strengths and pinpoint where they need support, so lessons focus on what matters most.

02

Create a personalised plan.

Clear, achievable goals shape a learning plan around your child’s starting point, pace and target grade.

03

Show the thinking.

We work through examples step by step, explaining how to approach each question before your child tries independently.

04

Build exam and study skills.

Focused practice develops exam technique, time management and the study habits needed to learn independently.

05

Measure progress and adapt.

Regular checks and feedback show what’s improving and where to focus next, keeping the plan responsive to your child’s needs.

Progress

See what is improving in the work itself.

I don’t promise a particular grade. Results depend on many things, including the practice a student does between lessons. Instead, we keep track of changes you can see on the page: better-chosen evidence, explanations that go further, clearer plans and fewer repeated errors.

Parents can see the same record, so it’s clear what is being worked on and what comes next.

Question: How does the writer use language to describe the city?

Before: The writer uses a metaphor, “the city was a furnace”, to show it was hot. This makes the reader feel the heat. After: Calling the city “a furnace” suggests that it is relentless and dangerous, not just uncomfortable. The setting feels hostile, so the reader starts to sense how trapped the narrator is.

  • Names a precise effect instead of “makes the reader feel”

About me

Meet your tutor

I’m a CELTA-qualified English tutor with a master’s degree in English Literature and 12 years of teaching experience across schools, NGOs, supplementary schools and tuition centres. As someone who speaks five languages, I understand both the challenges and the rewards of learning a language. I bring that experience and a love of literature to my lessons. Alongside subject knowledge, I teach practical exam techniques: understanding questions, planning and structuring answers, using evidence effectively and managing time. By helping students understand what examiners look for, I support them in turning their knowledge into stronger answers and better grades.
